The words, the way Brad sings it, it really moved me. Listen to it... It's cool.
-LisaLisa Strandnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8124934858818965334.post-57264916974463965922013-03-18T11:39:54.387-07:002013-03-18T11:39:54.387-07:00Your words reflect my life and as I kept reading I...Your words reflect my life and as I kept reading I started crying. I felt all the pain of my upbringing, what you wrote, along with physical abuse by my father & being smack dab in the middle of a large family. And being sensitive & a very loving heart, I viewed the world as a horrible place, wanting to put love into it but not knowing how & then suffering because I was so deeply affected by the pain of being abused. I still struggle with a lot of fears stemming from my childhood & years of being in the LLC, and I'm 42. Even though I know there's a way out & a way to heal, I'm scared. I have a son who is now 18, who was one of only a few LLC'ers in a public school, who I know has struggled with a lot of what you wrote about. He just read your article & said he could relate to most of it. He lives with me now, after his dad had full custody of him since age 6. He didn't graduate last year so we are enrolling him in college so he can get his diploma there. He also wants to get a job. I see him struggling with the same issues I've struggled with my entire life, all fear based. I just told him that I will not judge him. I suggested that he have an open mind & heart. As a parent, I want him to experience life & all it has to offer, and want him to be happy. I'll help him go in whatever direction he wants to go in. But since I have a lot of the same fears, it's hard for me. Social anxiety, PTSD, severe depression, fear of the world, of pretty much anything that moves! These are among the few issues I have.
Wow, so much to think about. Thank you for writing about this. It's opened my eyes to see the world in a little different light. I know most of the kids in the LLC struggle with these same issues & I believe that it's wrong, the way they're being raised. I wish you happiness & love and a beautiful life for that is what we all deserve!Lisa Strandnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8124934858818965334.post-13211943424795296282013-02-25T13:31:33.528-08:002013-02-25T13:31:33.528-08:00This is heartwrenching. It is so hard to be a child and a Laestadian in ths society, especially when the only reason you are given for the lifestyle is because thats how we believe...no valid reasons for the beliefs. You are very gifted at putting your thoughts into words that touch the soul. Absolutely beautifully written!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8124934858818965334.post-47482051724613972912013-02-22T09:07:03.660-08:002013-02-22T09:07:03.660-08:00This echoes my own sentiments about school. A life of fear, a child who was unfortunate to be born in the middle of the pack, when the parents were the most taxed and unavailable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8124934858818965334.post-18671267438064167472013-02-19T20:06:12.780-08:002013-02-19T20:06:12.780-08:00"The worst days of my life were in the church..."The worst days of my life were in the church". Truer words were never written. This person put into words my entire childhood. It was a living hell.

I will NEVER raise my child this way. I think it should be against the law to do this to a kid. It was a lousy way to grow up, being afraid that one mistake or wrong step could send me straight to the fires of hell. Cruelty perpetrated and perpetuated out of sheer ignorance, that's what that was.
